The film, based on the novel by Stephen King -- America's best-selling and award-winning master of horror -- will air as a three-hour original film in 2005 on ABC. While posing as Desperation cop Collie Entragian (Perlman), Tak is able to catch his prey while surveying the nearly empty highway. Caught in his deceptive web are famous author Johnny Marinville (Skerritt), whose misdeeds from the past may come back to haunt him; Ralph (Frewer) & Ellie Carver (Sylva Kelegian) and their son, David (Shane Haboucha) - whose faith may hold the key to bringing down Tak; and Mary Jackson (Ms. Gish) who, with her husband, Peter (Thomas), will discover a courage they never knew they had while battling the beast. Meanwhile, Johnny's aide, Steve Ames (Weber), and his traveling companion, Cynthia (Kelly Overton), find out for themselves the horror that has taken place in Desperation when they go in search of the famous author; and the town's veterinarian, Tom Billingsley (Durning), knows firsthand the secrets of Desperation. November 10, 2004 A bit of retro news .... :) Annabeth was recently recognized as an Outstanding Alumna for 2004 by Iowa's Northern University Price Laboratory High School (from which Annabeth graduated in 1989). Full article is posted below, courtesy of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier.  (Special thanks to John for sending this along. :) ) ---------- Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier Saturday, October 16, 2004 Annabeth Gish to return to MPLS By Kelsey Holm Courier Staff Writer CEDAR FALLS -- A familiar face will appear at the upcoming annual fall gathering of alumni and friends of Price Laboratory School - and she's not just a local star. Annabeth Gish, a 1989 Price Lab graduate, will be named an Outstanding Alum for 2004 at the ceremony on next Saturday. "This is our fourth or fifth year to honor outstanding alums at the school. When one of the nominations came for Annabeth this year, the vote from the board was unanimous," said Michelle Swanson, chairperson of Alumni and Friends of Price Lab. "The school is extremely proud of Annabeth's accomplishments. She is an inspiration to many of the students here." Gish has appeared in more than 40 film and television roles, most notably as Special Agent Monica Reyes on "The X-Files" TV series from 2001-2002. Gish was seen last playing the daughter of the United States President on NBC's "The West Wing," and is next slated to appear in the feature film, "The Celestine Prophecy," slated for release next year. Gish will receive a plaque at the ceremony, naming her an outstanding alum. Gish's mother, Judy, will also receive the distinction of 2004 Extraordinary Emeritus. "John and Annabeth will receive their plaques and I'll read a bio about them, and then each will have an opportunity to say a couple of words about their education at NU and why it means a lot to them," says Swanson, adding that Gish agreed to attend the ceremony when she first found out about the award last summer. John Aldrich Jr., a 1972 graduate and current East High School teacher, will also receive the distinction of 2004 Outstanding Alum "John has achieved so much," said Swanson. "He does more for students at East High than any parent could ever dream of." The gathering will be held Oct. 23 at the UNI Commons Ball Room and Georgian Lounge. Social hour begins at 6:15 p.m., with a silent auction also held. The program, where Gish will be presented a plaque, will begin at 7:30 p.m. Auction items, including various gift certificates, athletic event tickets and unique opportunities with local celebrities, will be presented to the highest bidders at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $13.50 and are available at the Price Lab main office. November 9, 2004 Small bit of news ... :) I've received a couple of inquiries regarding which character Annabeth is slated to portray in the new project, Desperation. As posted at IMDb, she has been cast as Mary Jackson. || "[T]he role ... is a fierce one."
