May 30, 2003 A
new picture, the case of missing links, and another piece of fan
artwork ... :)
Grilka has sent along the
picture of Annabeth (below) that accompanied the 1999 Venice Magazine article. In case you missed the article, you can read it here.
(Great picture, Grilka! Thank you so much! :) )

"I find when you
play a character like [Trish in SLC Punk!], you have to get
into it .... [It] was fun because I really got to look completely
different." (Annabeth, Venice Magazine, May 1999)

I have been
remiss at adding some additional links to the Links section: Irene's Let's
Go GISHing; Krynn17's Sunshine
Days; Gertiebeth's X-Files
Search Engine. (I thought I had already posted these. My
bad. :) )

I hope everyone has a
great Friday and a nice weekend! :)

May 29, 2003 New
screen caps, and some wonderful fan artwork ...
Our resident screen cap
expert (the lovely Grilka) has done a set of wonderful caps from No
Higher Love (a.k.a. God's New Plan), which you can see here.
I just saw this film for
the first time this past weekend and thought it quite a touching film.
The story overall is very moving, and the performances all the way
round were solid and well calibrated - particularly Annabeth's. There
was a wonderful chemistry between Claire (Annabeth) and Ellen (Katey
Sagal). I'd recommend it (but it is a tear-jerker, so ... you may want
to have some tissues handy. :) )
|| Two
new beautiful pieces of Annabeth-centric artwork have been created by the talented Krynn17 and Becky. Really wonderful work
ladies! :)

Have a great day! :)

retroview, some additional clips, the BFB logo contest is winding
down, and a couple VCR alerts ... :)
I've transcribed an
older article on Annabeth from the June 1994 issue of Movieline
magazine. Read it here. The pic that accompanied the article is below.
:)

"I wasn't leaving
behind some superstar's career, but I was a working actor, so it was a
risk .... [But] I wanted more than movies in my life." (Annabeth,
Movieline, June 1994)
|| Grilka
has done two more clips from A Death in the Family: Receiving
the News and Mary
& Rufus. Both have been added to Multimedia Gallery/Movies.
You will need WinZip to open;
RealPlayer 9 to view.)

The Buy
For Bethie logo contest is winding down. Don't miss out - be sure
to send in your design today! :) Deadline is this Thursday, May 29th.
Check out the details here!

VH-1 is scheduled to re-air The Way She Moves Thursday, June
5th. I know many of you have been waiting for the chance to see this
once again, so be sure to set your VCRs. (**Note: VH-1 can tend
to pull its listings and swap their schedule around at the last minute,
so I would continue to check your local listings as well as VH1.com
to confirm the airing.)
Also, looks as though Lifetime Television Network is set to air No
Higher Love on Friday, June 13th. So for those of you who did not
order the DVD or video, set your VCRs!

Have a great day! :)

May 23, 2003 Happy
Memorial Day Weekend!
Some
new pics and screen caps ... :)
The fabulous Sabrina has
sent along screen caps from Scarlett, which you can view here.
(Sabrina actually did watch all 8 hours of the film in order to
capture Annabeth's part, so extra, extra thanks, Sabrina! You're
awesome!)
|| Sabrina
has also sent along another set of pics of Annabeth at the How to
Lose a Guy in 10 Day premiere from back in January. These are some
great shots. :) Thank you so much for sharing them, Sabrina! :)

Keep those submissions coming for the Buy
For Bethie logo contest. :) It continues to run until May 29th.
Check out the details here!

It's Memorial Day Weekend here in the U.S., which means Monday is a
holiday for me, so I'll be away for a few days. I hope everyone has a
great end to the week and a wonderful weekend as well :)

|
May 22, 2003 Clip,
clips and more clips ... :)
The wonderful Grilka has been hard at
work making additional clips from some more of Annabeth's films. New
additions to the Multimedia Gallery include: The Way She Moves;
Race to Space (behind-the-scenes), Steel, Mystic
Pizza and Desert Bloom. Check
them out!

"Acting is a vulnerable craft - you open yourself up to others.
It's not like a normal relationship where you can build it. You're
forced into the relationship. It's a part of your job." (Annabeth, Iowa
Woman, September 1988)

Don't forget about the Buy
For Bethie logo contest. It is currently running until May 29th. Details can be found here!

Everyone have a great day! :)

May 21, 2003 Admin
note ...
It has come to my
attention that a person (or persons) who were in attendance for the Pursuit
of Happiness screening/Q&A session this past Saturday took it
upon themselves to report word of Annabeth's engagement to another Web
site in the form of what they "observed" and
"overheard."
I feel it important to
clarify I do not know who this person is (or persons are), nor was I
in contact with them. Moreover, permission to
relay news of the engagement on this site was given directly to me by
Annabeth in the conversation I had with her, and it was not
"observed" from a distance or "overheard" in
passing without her knowledge or consent. It
is precisely because of scenarios such as this, as well as my deep
respect for Annabeth, that I have taken great
care to report news on this site only in actual fact and not in the form
of rumour, personal observation, personal impression or personal
opinion.
(Am just posting this
note so as to avoid any misunderstanding or misinterpretation of
events. :) )

May 19, 2003 Meeting
up with Annabeth, and the BFB Logo competition ... :)
I attended the Pursuit
of Happiness screening/Q&A session this past Saturday in
Manhatten Beach. It was really quite a neat event all the way round.
It was sort of a regular night at the movies, yet with a bonus thrown in at
the end. :) Various members of cast and crew were in attendance,
and they were introduced following the screening at which time the
audience could ask questions. I
personally enjoyed being able to see POH on the big screen and hear
not only production insight, but also what a general movie audience
thought of the film. Everyone in the theatre enjoyed it quite a bit, and
surprisingly, were quite vocal in expressing how they wish there were
more POH's released to balance out all the big Hollywood productions. Following
the session, I was able to meet
up with Annabeth. :) She was most gracious and kind,
and it was a pleasure to meet her in person. We talked for
a bit about this site, and I think we're both looking forward
to being able to have ATA serve as a great communication vehicle in
support of her endeavors. On
a bit of the news front, Annabeth has kindly allowed me to report that
she is engaged to boyfriend Wade Allen, and they have been busily planning
their wedding. (I had the good fortune to also meet and speak
with Wade Saturday. He was equally as gracious and kind as Annabeth
heself, and it was a pleasure to meet him as well.)
And, in case there are any of you still thinking I am making all of
this up (LOL!), Annabeth very graciously allowed me to take a couple
of pictures to post here at the site. (Big thanks to Wade for
being co-photographer. :) )

The contest to design an official logo for Buy
For Bethie has begun. Details can be found here.
I know many of you have great talents in creating
collages and such, and we hope you'll want to try your hand at creating
a logo! :)

Hope everyone has a great day! :)

May 16, 2003 -- SPECIAL UPDATE Another
message from Annabeth ... :)
To my wonderful surprise, I once again
received a call from Annabeth yesterday (May 15) to let me know she has returned from
filming Knots, and all is quite well.
If some of you are wondering how it is Annabeth has been in contact with me, I
wrote her once more to thank her for graciously taking the time to send along her thank you
note regarding the Book of Birthday Greetings, and I extended the offer to her that if,
at her convenience, she would like to continue to use ATA to
communicate to her fan base,
I would be more than happy to work with her to do so.
She has very kindly taken me up on the offer, and it is indeed a pleasure and
privilege to have established a dialogue with her.
Another reason for her call was to let me know this Saturday (May 17), she will
be at a Q & A session following a screening of Pursuit of Happiness in Manhatten
Beach, CA. Details are as follows:
Pursuit of Happiness
A Filmmaker’s Evening
Saturday, May 17, 2002
7 p.m.
Pacific Theatre’s Manhatten Village Six-Plex
I am making plans to attend, and anyone else local to the Greater Los
Angeles area is welcome to do so. Am hopeful I shall have a wonderful report for you
all next week!
(And … so you know how I usually thank the person for the news/photo/misc. heads-up …?
Well, ironic this one is a thank you to Annabeth herself. :) )
(And, as always, a big thank you to all of you for continuing to show your support.
It means so much to her.)

"Where in the world
do you find all these pictures of me?!" (A conversation with
Annabeth, May 15, 2003)

Everyone have a great Friday and a super weekend! :)

May 14, 2003 A
revised Multimedia section, and a new fan site ... :)
With many, many thanks
to the wonderful Grilka, I've been able to re-do the Multimedia
section to feature clips from some of Annabeth's films. The section is
now broken into three parts: Interviews; Movies; Shows. Check
it out! (If you encounter any problems downloading some of the
clips, just let
me know. I tested them out, but ya' never know ... :) ... )

"I'm definitely a tomboy with the
Jimmy Choo shoes. I'm a pretty comfort-oriented, functional dresser.
I like surfer-girl kind of stuff. I love bags and purses and accessories.
(Annabeth, describing her personal style, New York Post, November 2001)

Irene has created a great new little site on Annabeth called Let's
Go Gishing. Be sure to check it out! (Great name for a site, Irene! :) )

Have a great day! :)

May 13, 2003 A
part of the script from Knots ... :)
This past weekend, I
received a couple of pages of
script that feature Annabeth's character (Greta) in Knots.
These pages are called
the Sides - which are pages or scenes from a script
that are used either in auditions, or, if on a film set, are those
scenes being shot that day.
These few pages do contain
possible spoilers, so you are forewarned. :) And, you might want to keep in
mind the finished film may/may not have the scenes exactly as you read
them, given scripts do change. (And, as a side note, the film is now in
post-production, according to IMDb.com,
and is slated for 2004.)
Check out the Sides here.
(Note
you will need WinZip to
open, and you will need Adobe
Acrobat Reader 5.0 to actually view the pages of the script as the
file is a PDF. Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free download, which you can
get here.)
Many, many thanks to
jamba juiceluva for sending along some great insight as to what Annabeth's
character in Knots is all about! :)

"[A]s I'm getting older I'm wanting
desperately to take more risks with my work. It's hard because Hollywood likes to
pigeon-hole you." (Annabeth, Venice Magazine, May 1999)

And, as another (admin) side note, I received notification
that ATA has been listed with Fansites.com. :)

Have a great day! :)

May 9, 2003 Happy
Mother's Day weekend! We have some
previously unseen video cover artwork, and an admin note ... :)
Julie was surfing around
the Norwegian video store Web site, VideoNett.no,
and she found a couple of different pics that were featured as the video cover
artwork for both To Live Again and Sealed With A Kiss
(a.k.a. First Comes Love). There was also another variation of artwork for
Pursuit of Happiness. (Thanks so much, Julie!)

Also, I'm happy to report
ATA has now been listed by womencelebs.com,
actresslink.com and celebrity-link.com.
(I had been working on this for a while, so I'm happy to finally have
it done ... now if only Google/Yahoo would be so kind as to bump up ATA's
listing under "Annabeth Gish" ... LOL! :) )
A big thanks to all of you
for continuing to visit! You've helped grow this site tremendously in
just the short time its been up. I'm so grateful for your support! :)

Happy
Mother's Day to all moms, and I hope everyone has a great weekend! :)

May 8, 2003 Clips
from Politically Incorrect, and a TYA note ... :)
The ever-fabulous Grilka
has made clips from Annabeth's May 2002 appearance on Politically
Incorrect w/ Bill Maher. I know many of you were unable to see
this show, so I hope you enjoy the clips! :)
There are three clips,
and they cover the whole show. You will need WinZip to
open the file(s), and RealPlayer to
view the clip(s).

"['Just Say No' to
drugs] hasn't really worked. I mean, the drug problem in our country
is still immense." (Annabeth, Politically Incorrect w/ Bill
Maher, May 2002)

Just an FYI ... those of
you who won items in the TYA Auction should have received, or
will be receiving, final shipping / payment / confirmation e-mails
this week. Please note that most of you will be coordinating your
shipping/payment details with Kristen of the TYA Team, not Deslea. So,
don't be alarmed or confused as Kristen is in possession of most of
the items that are to be shipped out to you all (with a few minor
exceptions).
Just wanted to pass this
along as I know some of you are new to the online auction
process, and some of you just like having all the details ... ;)

Have a great day! :)

May 7, 2003 A
new version of Feb. 2001 Craig Kilborn clip ... :)
ActressLibraGirl has
been so kind as to send along the full clip of Annabeth's February
2001 appearance on The Late, Late Show w/ Craig Kilborn. It is in two
parts (below). You will need WinZip to
open the file(s), and RealPlayer to
view the clip(s).
Part
1 || Part
2
(For those who don't
know, the clip that originated from Megan/xfroadrunners.com
initially highlighted discussion of Annabeth's role on The X-Files.
But there's actually a bit more to the clip. Many, many thanks to ActressLibraGirl
for sending it along! :) )

"[In first grade] in
'Jack and the Beanstalk' ... I had my first most challenging role as a
bean. I got to grow - to go from a bean to the beanstalk. And now from
a bean to
The X-Files." (Annabeth, The Late, Late Show w/
Craig Kilborn, February 2001)

Have a great day! :)

May 6, 2003 Couple
of fandom updates ... :)
I've added a couple of
additional Annabeth-centric Fanlistings to the Links/Credits section
for: Beautiful Girls and Double Jeopardy. (I found them
courtesy of Kristi of No
Frickin' Way and Absolute
Annabeth. She has a personal fanlisting site: Box
of Chocolates. This isn't an official Fanlisting site, but rather
her efforts to collectively keep track of fanlistings related to X-Files
actors, directors, writers, etc. Thanks so much, Kristi! And special
thanks to Deslea for the heads-up. ;) )
(**Note: I made the
below buttons so as to feature Annabeth; they aren't officially off
the BG or DJ Fanlisting site(s).)

Donna (Life
with My Girl, Reyes) has been hard at work adding loads of new
items to her Buy For Bethie affiliate store. Be sure to check it
out!

"There's a monologue [in
Beautiful Girls]
delivered by Rosie O' Donnell about how women on the covers
of magazines are airbrushed, their images perfected and phony. She tells them to
appreciate what they have. I just said: 'That's so true. That's something I want
to save.'" (Annabeth, People Magazine, February 19, 1996)

Have a great day! :)
|
|
May 5, 2003 Happy
Cinco de Mayo to those celebrating! :)
We have some more wonderful pics
to start off the week. (A huge, huge thanks to our good friend Sabrina
for sending along the heads-up for the pics - they are great finds! :) )

Set 1: Additional pics from the same photo shoot that was
featured with the articles on Annabeth in both People Magazine (December
2001) and Fitness Magazine (March 2002).
Set 2: Additional pics from The X-Files' Wrap Party (April
2002).
Set 3: Additional pics from the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days premiere
(from back in January); and, a colour version of the pic of Annabeth
from the 2002 Elton John/InStyle Academy Awards Party.

Have a great day! :)

May 3, 2003 A
stunning new pic ... :)
As promised, STeF has
been so kind as to send along a new pic of Annabeth (below). I had never
seen it before. From the looks of her hair style, etc., I'm guessing
it might have originally been taken some time in 1996-1997.
It's truly a beautiful picture.
:) (Actually, am not sure Annabeth ever really takes a bad picture.
She might say she does, but I'd have to say no - she doesn't. I am
partial, of course ... ;)
... )
Thank you so much, STeF!
What a great pic! :)

Have a good one! :)

May 2, 2003 Some
new screen caps, and some video rental news for fans in the
UK ... :)
SunReyes has sent along
some screen caps from
Don't Look Back, which you can see here.
The film was released on Region 1 DVD (USA/Canada) back on January 7th. Annabeth's role is
fairly small, but I thought the film overall was actually quite good. If any of you are Eric Stoltz,
John Corbett or Billy Bob Thornton fans, you might think it a good
flick as well. :) (Thanks so much, SunReyes!)

Also, it seems as if A Death in the Family is going to be
released as a rental video in the UK on May 12th. No word as yet if
this will be available for purchase at a later date, or if you will
also be able to rent it as a DVD.
In any case, UK fans might want to make a note to rent it once it's
out. :) It's a very good film - wonderfully done, with an excellent
cast, and a powerful story that is based on James Agee's book. To see a story summary, or to look at/purchase the book, follow this
link and visit amazon.com. (And, thanks to Richard for the
heads-up.)

"I'm hurt 'til the point of dyin', and you want me
to feel sorry for you?" - Mary Follet (Annabeth), A Death in the
Family

Everyone have a great Friday, and a great weekend! :)

May 1, 2003 Happy
May Day all ... :)
I've re-done the
Links/Credits section to be a little more ... well, condensed. LOL!
I've added some links, taken away others. More site maintenance. :)

"[On the morning of
September 11, 2001] Lise picked me up and we drove to Rebecca's. My
parents live in New Mexico, and when Lise showed up, I realized, this
is my family here." (Annabeth, Self Magazine, April 2002)

Thanks so much to those of you who have ventured over to
starpages.net to vote on ATA! I really appreciate it! :)

Have a great day! :)

April 30, 2003 -- REVISED Just
a bit of this n' that today ... :)
In my continuing efforts
to get additional exposure for ATA, I've listed it with starpages.net.
If you like ATA (as I know many of you do, and I thank you so, so much
for your support ... :) ... ), and if it's not too much trouble, might you take a
moment to vote for ATA here
(to help me better track visitors and such). Or just click the logo
below. :)

"She was wonderful
.... She worked hard, and she picked up everything very quickly and
accurately. I was impressed by her determination and her passion for
it." (Kamar de los Reyes - Annabeth's co-star in The Way She Moves - on her preparation for the film, Tribune Media
Services, August 2001)

Just a heads-up that STeF is going to be sending along a new pic of
Annabeth (thanks so much, STeF!). And, I'm working with Grilka on
getting clips of Annabeth's appearance last year on Politically Incorrect.
:)

And, I'd still like to send a big shout-out of thanks to
everyone who participated in the TYA Auction - it could not have done it
without you! :)

And, some minor site maintenance: I've archived the April
updates. :)

Have a great day! :)
