VCR alert(s), and the
official Celestine Prophecy press release ... :) TVNow.com
has updated Annabeth's schedule through April, and one of her more rare, made-for-television movies, To
Live Again, is scheduled to air on Lifetime
Television April 12th.
Many of you have been waiting to see this one, so be sure to
set those VCRs. (On a personal note, I highly recommend this film for
the powerful story, and for Annabeth's compelling performance as
Karen. You might not even recognize her. Don't miss it. :) ) And
... Grilka discovered that according to csifiles.com,
the "Not Landing"
episode of CSI:
Miami (to which Annabeth guest stars) is possibly going to air May 3rd.
However, this is unofficial and should be read as a "tentative" air date until
confirmed by the Official
CSI: Miami Site. Air dates for all shows get shuffled around quite
a bit during sweeps. :) Thanks to Grilka for keeping any eye out for
the latest info. :) ||

Prophecy. Courtesy of

THE CELESTINE PROPHECY MOVIE BEGINS PRINCIPAL PHOTOGRAPHY
Publishing phenomenon begins its cinematic journey to the big screen just in time for the worldwide resurgence of
interest in spirituality.
Matthew Settle, Thomas Kretschmann, Sarah Wayne Callies, Annabeth
Gish, Hector Elizondo, Joaquim de Almeida and
Jürgen Prochnow head an international cast in the story of James Redfield's best-selling novel.
St. Augustine, FL (March 29, 2004) - Principal photography begins today on
The Celestine Prophecy movie, the big
screen version of the worldwide bestseller by James Redfield, which introduced millions of readers to an appreciation
of spiritual awareness and became an unprecedented publishing phenomenon that continues today. The film follows the
story that was originally created and self-published by Redfield and later picked up by Warner Books. Redfield went
on to write several other books aimed at making spiritual truth accessible at a personal level. The tomes kept
readers transfixed, continuing to reveal powerful insights concerning ideas about man's destiny and purpose.
Celestine Films will continue to release information on the production through
[its] website.
Matthew Settle, Thomas Kretschmann, Sarah Wayne Callies, Annabeth
Gish, Hector Elizondo, Joaquim de Almeida and
Jürgen Prochnow head an international ensemble cast that also includes Robyn Cohen and Obba Babatundé.
Directed by Armand Mastroianni from a screenplay by James Redfield and Barnet Bain, the film follows the story of
one man's spiritual journey in search of an ancient manuscript that chronicles Nine Insights into a greater
spirituality. The Celestine Prophecy is produced by Barnet Bain, Terry Collis, James Redfield and Beverly J.
Camhe. The movie will be shot entirely on location in St. Augustine and Ocala, Florida, and Puerto Rico.
Originally published by James Redfield, The Celestine Prophecy has sold over 12 million copies to date. The
novel was recently listed as #18 in USA Today's 100 top-selling books of the last decade. It was on the
New
York Times hardcover bestsellers list for 165 weeks and was voted by
New York Times readers as their all time
favorite book in the category of spirituality and philosophy.
In the film, Matthew Settle plays John Woodson, a restless soul who leaves his teaching position and current love
affair in search of an ancient manuscript purported to be written centuries before the appearance of Christ.
With upcoming films Rancid and Until the Night, his feature credits already include
U-571, Attraction and I
Still Know What You Did Last Summer with Jennifer Love Hewitt. He portrayed the legendary Captain Ronald Speirs
in Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks' award-winning HBO production of Band of
Brothers.
Thomas Kretschmann portrays Wil, John's guide and mentor. The actor is best known as the compassionate
Nazi officer who spares the life of Adrien Brody's Wladyslaw Szpilman in Roman Polanski's Academy
Award-winning The Pianist. He will next be seen starring opposite Charlize Theron in
Head in the Clouds.
Kretschmann has starred in numerous international films and television productions with no less than
eight projects poised for release. Among his film credits are U-571,
Total Recall and Blade II.
Sarah Wayne Callies makes her feature film debut as Marjorie, who has been working on the translation of the
mysterious scrolls. Callies starred as Jane Porter in the series
"Tarzan" and recently won a nationwide search
to become the lead in ABC's "The Service."
Annabeth Gish will be seen as Julia, a Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Miami. Gish,
who plays President Bartlett's older daughter on NBC's Emmy-winning drama
"The West Wing" and who
starred in the hit series "[The] X-Files," will next be seen on the big screen starring in the independent
feature, Knots. Her screen credits include Double Jeopardy,
Wyatt Earp, Nixon, Beautiful Girls,
Desert Bloom and Mystic Pizza.
Hector Elizondo (Princess Diaries I and II, Tortilla Soup,
Pretty Woman) will play Cardinal Sebastian,
a man whose faith is challenged by the existence of the Celestine scrolls. Joaquim de Almeida
(Clear and Present Danger) appears as Father Sanchez, a church philosopher devoted to the Prophecy.
Jürgen Prochnow (The Replacement Killers, Dune, Das
Boot) plays Jensen, an international conspirator whose
mission is to destroy the scrolls. Rounding out the cast are Robyn Cohen
(The Life Aquatic)
and Obba Babatundé (John Q, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge).
Director Armand Mastroianni launched the career of Tom Hanks with his own feature directorial debut of
He Knows You're Alone for MGM. After directing the films The Killing
Hour, The Supernaturals and
Double Revenge, he became a highly successful director of prestigious movies and mini-series.
He most recently directed "Gone But Not Forgotten," a four-hour mini-series for Hallmark Entertainment,
starring Brooke Shields, Scott Glenn and Lou Diamond Phillips.
Redfield followed the success of The Celestine Prophecy with subsequent bestsellers
The Tenth Insight
and The Secret of Shambhala. Some of his other publications include
The Celestine Vision: Living
the New Spiritual Awareness and The Celestine Prophecy: An Experiential
Guide.

SunReyes found a small mention of one of Annabeth's workout
routines in this month's Bride's
Magazine (p. 92):
-----
Getting Ripped
Disciples: Annabeth Gish and Lauren Graham
Body benefits: The Resistance Performance Program (better known as
RiPPED) is a series of high-intensity, 75-minute cardio classes that
promise unpredictable resistance routines. Sign up for the six-week
stint and you'll find yourself playing musical machines - jumping from
treadmills to cycles to elipticals to rowers every two minutes.
Increased stamina and strength are your pot of gold at the end of
this workout.
Best for: A gal who likes surprises - or has a short attention span.

Thanks to SunReyes for the heads-up!

And on a personal note ... Happy Birthday, JGB. :)

Just a note (as I don't have anything major to report today) ... :)
I have not seen any pictures thus far of Annabeth at this past
weekend's SXSW Film Festival. If I happen to come across any, I will surely post. Or, if
anyone happens to come across some pics, let
me know. :) || And,
for those of you in the U.S. who want to still catch re-runs
of Season 9 of The X-Files, it appears as though cable channel TNT
is going to be re-airing a good number of the episodes in the coming
weeks. You can check Annabeth's
listing at TV-Now.com to see what's coming up. || Have

Best wishes to Annabeth today as she celebrates her 33rd birthday! :)

March 9, 2004
Lots of
news/messages/Q&A's from Annabeth, and birthday book pictures ... :)Firstly, Annabeth will be attending
the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas this
weekend where Knots
will premiere on Sunday (March 14th). The official release date for
the film has yet to be determined, but Annabeth will advise as soon as
she knows the date. || Secondly, Annabeth has been working
once again on a project for PBS, doing narration for a documentary
called, "America's Lost Landscape: The Tallgrass Prairie."
It has yet to be completed, but you can check out the Web
site. Annabeth says, "It's a
beautiful project that has emerged from the folks in Iowa." || Third,
Annabeth sent along her own note of thanks to everyone for the recent donation to
Futures for Children:
Hey all,
Thanks for the beautiful donation from the ATA community to Futures For Children. I
am honored and excited by the generosity of you all. You guys keep amazing me! Futures is an important
organization and if any of you are interested in mentoring a Native American student, you should check out the
website. It's incredibly rewarding. Thanks again and much love and light to
everyone!
||
And lastly, Annabeth sent along the most recent set of Q&As.
Enjoy!
----------
Name: Amanda
Question: In your long career as an actress, have there been any actors or actresses that you have worked with,
or even just run across, that have given you advice that has made you the actress your are today?
Annabeth's Answer:
Oh, that's really the gift of the gypsy life of an actor isn't it? So many morsels of wisdom to be received.
And of course everyone has advice ... But to be quite honest, for me it's always been more of what people do
(their actions) than what they say (their words) that leaves a stronger impression. It's the actors who live their
life a certain way, as an example to follow, which proves what works and what doesn't, and ultimately what I want to
emulate.
I've spoken before in interviews of the letter I received when I was 12 years old from Lillian Gish.
Most of you know her, but for those of you who don't, she was one of the first silent film stars, later an actress in
the "talkies" who was legendary. Her advice in the letter (I'm paraphrasing) was to stay away from Hollywood,
to stay where people loved me. In Hollywood there was "too much talent and not enough work" and it was a rigorous and
painful career to pursue. Everything she said was/is absolutely true. Everything. And there are some days when
I wish I would have listened to that wisdom - certainly had I been a teacher or a doctor, there would have been a
more reliable lifestyle to take comfort in ... However, and with no disrespect to Lillian Gish, I didn't heed her
advice. I was driven to follow this path and now I'm on it. The interesting fact is that I would probably say the
same things to any young woman, earnest and wholesome, who wanted to come out here and do this ... My point is this:
advice is information to process. The MOST important driving force in anyone's career is their very own heart and
passion. That is the true compass to follow. (Jeez, did I suddenly get totally cheesy?! )
----------
Name: Loralyn
Question: Let's say that you're asked to provide a commentary for one of your movies for a special edition DVD.
Which movie would you select and why?
Annabeth's Answer:
I suppose I'd love to do that for my very first feature, Desert
Bloom. It would be great fun
(and potentially painful at times) to go back and comment on my fumbling, nubile "process" emerging at the tender
age of 13 when I couldn't have been any more verdantly green. At that age, there was really no process or craft,
just authenticity and heart and a desperate hope to please the people I was working for/with, especially since
I knew nothing about filmmaking. To be asked to step into that particular crowd of professional, deeply committed,
unrelenting actors was a huge challenge for me, and one that surely changed my life and set the tone for a kind of
work ethic I would carry into my career. Also, I just have so many wonderful memories of the location, Tucson, the
crew and awakening to the entire movie making process for the very first time.
|| And, while I don't believe I can top all of Annabeth's news today (LOL!),
I have sent off the birthday package, which includes the Book of
Birthday Greetings and the commemorative art tile. Thanks to everyone who participated
this year - it's another great book! :) And special thanks once again to Vickie for having created such a
beautiful piece of art to present to Annabeth. The rendering is truly
poignant. An amazing piece, Vickie!

Have a great day!
