February 28, 2003 An
additional article, some DVD/Video news, and more kudos from one actor
to another ...
I've transcribed a 1999
Venice Magazine (a local Los Angeles-area magazine) that featured an
interview with Annabeth. I know I must sound as
if I'm repeating myself, but all of Annabeth's interviews really are a
joy to read. :) This one is no exception - particularly in how she
discusses preparing for her role as a mentally handicapped woman in
the TV-movie, Different, as well as her thoughts on Hollywood stardom.
Read it all here.
:)
||
"I
know that I'm not even going to hit my stride until I'm 32. For some
reason, I'm fixated on 32. What the hell is going to happen to me
then?" (Annabeth, Venice Magazine, May 1999)
||
Pursuit of Happiness is
scheduled to be released on DVD/Video on May 20, 2003 from MTI Video.
I'm assuming this is a Region 1 DVD (USA/Canada) / NTSC Video release.
You can head over to either the MTI
Video site of or the Pursuit
of Happiness Official Site for more details. (Thanks to SunReyes for the heads-up!)
||
And finally ... this is a great quote ...
"Annabeth has a GREAT laugh! It was always fun to
get her laughing on the set. I would absolutely work with her
again." (Robert Patrick, Official
Site Interview, February 2003)
||
Have a great Friday and a nice weekend! :)

February 27, 2003 Articles,
pics and an admin note ...
I've transcribed two
older People Magazine articles from August 2001 and February
1996. Both articles are fairly short, "side-bar" type
write-ups. But, they again offer some great insight into Annabeth's
persona. :) August 2001 is here;
February 1996 is here.
||
"I
thought about writing. I studied poetry all through college, and I'd
love to publish my poetry, but I'm shy about showing it. Maybe someday."
(Annabeth, People Magazine, February, 1996)
||
Julie found a couple of behind-the-scenes pics of Annabeth
from SLC Punk! and Race to Space. Pics are courtesy of: Giffoni
Film Festival; matthewlillard.com.
Thanks, Julie! :)
||
Admin note: I've recently come across a
couple of sites whereby some have remotely linked (off-site linked)
back to pics found here at this site for use as avatars at message
boards, etc. While I don't mind the use of the pictures, please download the pic to your own site (especially for use as an
avatar). Also, if it is possible, a credit or credit link back
to allthingsannabeth.com would be appreciated (avatar and/or collage
work credits not necessary).
Thanks much! :)
||
Have a good day! :)

February 26, 2003 Article
and pictures update ...
I've transcribed the
March 2002 Fitness Magazine article on Annabeth. Great
inspiration for anyone who may be thinking about starting up a new
health/exercise regiment. Read the
article here.
||
"I
don't think women should succumb to the ideal of having a perfect body -
it makes you crazy." (Annabeth, Fitness Magazine, March
2002)
||
I've also got a couple of new (actually, old) pics of
Annabeth from:
(L to R): 2002 Elton John/InStyle Academy Awards Party (which
benefits the Elton John AIDS Foundation); Cool Comedy - Hot Cuisine/Scleroderma
Research Foundation Benefit (November 2002).
||
Enjoy! :)

February 25, 2003 -- Second Update Thank
You, Annabeth (TYA) update ...
Deslea has advised that
the signed merchandise for the long-awaited TYA
auction has finally arrived, and the auction is tentatively planned
for March/April.
Also, the TYA
guest book has been fixed, so those of you who may not have gotten the
chance to sign it can now do so.
Head over to TYA
for all the details. (And a big, big thank you to the TYA committee
for all of their hard work in putting this together.) :)

February 25, 2003 Site
update, possible VCR alert and additional b-day book info ...
I've rearranged the
Miscellaneous section of the Photo Gallery to be more spread out; the
one page was getting to be a bit full. LOL! It is now divided up into
three sections: Main, Black and White and Out n' About (to better
archive pictures from premieres, events, etc.).
||
"I'm really, really
grateful for what I began to learn [at Duke University]. College was a time where
I learned to ask questions. It's like all these little seeds were
planted in college, and I've been able to water some of them." (Annabeth,
The Chronicle - The Independent Daily at Duke University,
November 1999)
||
According to TVGuide.com, VH-1
is scheduled to re-air The Way She Moves this Sunday, March 2 at 4
p.m. EST for U.S. viewers. But, VH-1 has been known to cancel/switch
showings of their movies at the last moment, so you may want to keep
checking throughout the week just to be sure. :)
||
I've been asked if artwork/collages
are O.K. as greetings for the birthday book, and they certainly are. Just keep in mind I will need to
print it out here on my end, so you'll want to keep the colours a bit
classic/simple so it will look good on paper (as opposed to electronic
form).
Also, if you do artwork, make sure it is sized large enough to be
printed out. Somewhere in the 400 x 500 pixel range (roughly 5 x 7
inches) is a good size. Or, you can always cut/paste it into an MS
Word document and send it to me that way. It is up to you.
If you send the artwork by itself, file formats need to be:
IBM/PC
.jpg (.jpeg), or
.tif (.tiff), or
.pdf (.pdf)
To participate:
1) Please forward your greeting via e-mail to: allthingsannabeth@yahoo.com.
2) In the subject line, please write: "Birthday Greetings
for Annabeth."
3) Deadline for submissions: March 5th
||
Have a great day! :)

February 24, 2003 Happy
new week everyone ...
I was able to get a back
issue of the Summer 1996 Smoke Magazine that features a
small write up on Annabeth. You can read the article here;
the picture is here.
(**Note: I've left the pic in a larger format, so it may take an extra
bit to download.)
||
"I think, as a
general rule, most female actors always long for a little more
complexity. That's something I always look for in the scripts I read."
(Annabeth, Smoke Magazine, Summer 1996)
||
We're in the final week or so to send in b-day greetings. I've
received some great ones thus far, and would love to have more. So
keep sending them in ... :)
To participate:
1) Please forward your greeting via e-mail to: allthingsannabeth@yahoo.com.
2) In the subject line, please write: "Birthday Greetings
for Annabeth."
3) Deadline for submissions: March 5th
||
Have a great day! :)

February 22, 2003 New
Annabeth-related Fanlisting ...
The wonderful Sabrina
has created an awesome new Fanlisting
for: The Way She Moves.
This is great news as I know there are a lot of TWSM fans
out there. Thanks so much, Sabrina! :)
||
"I was
halfway down the aisle when I realized there was some place else I
wanted to be." - Amie Tyson (Annabeth), The Way She Moves.
||
I also thought I'd try out adding a section for Annabeth-related Fanlistings in the
"Links/Credits" part of this site. The criteria if you would
like me to link to your
Fanlisting:
1) It is
specifically dedicated to one of Annabeth's characters; or
2) It is
specifically dedicated to one of Annabeth's Movies/Shows.
So if you have a Fanlisting that is Annabeth-centric, let
me know! (Or, if you know of some additional Annabeth-centric
Fanlistings, let me know, too -- as I'm a bit new to the Fanlistings
world myself. LOL!)
||
Enjoy the weekend! :)

February 21, 2003 Small
site
update ...
I changed the
"Contact" button over on the navigation bar to say
"Contact/Join ATA." You might have to hit
"Refresh" on your system to see the change. (I've also
revised that section so that you can join the mailing list/group from
there as well).
||
"For some reason,
I've been hired to do dances. Oh! I don't mean that ... !" (Annabeth,
The Late, Late Show With Craig Kilborn, December 2001)
||
Everyone have a great Friday and a great weekend! :)
|
|
February 20, 2003 I've
formed a Yahoo! Mailing List/Group for this site. :) I'm
hopeful that some of you will want to join for great discussion of
Annabeth! :)
Note that you can just
subscribe to the e-mail list, you do not necessarily have to subscribe
to the Y! Web Group. When you submit your e-mail address, you'll
receive a confirmation from Y! Groups to complete your registration at
which time you can choose to just be on the e-mail list (or part of
the Y! Group).
To subscribe/join, just
fill in your e-mail address below!
||
Hope to see you on the list! :)
|
|
February 19, 2003 I've
got some transcriptions of X-Files-centric articles from March
of last year (2002): Starlog Magazine #296 ("Soul Searcher")
and The X-Files Official Magazine Issue #2 ("Gish
Fulfillment").
These may already be
familiar to some you, but if not, they are both excellent reads and
offer great insight into Annabeth's whole approach, expectation and
execution of her role as Special Agent Monica Reyes.
||
Also ... just a reminder to keep those well-wishes coming for the
2nd Annual Book of Birthday Greetings for Annabeth. I know some of you
might be a bit shy in sending something in, or unsure of how
much/little to write. But, even the shortest note will be just great
... and Annabeth will most certainly appreciate your thoughts. :)
To participate:
1) Please forward your greeting via e-mail to: allthingsannabeth@yahoo.com.
2) In the subject line, please write: "Birthday Greetings
for Annabeth."
3) Deadline for submissions: March 5th
||
Have a great day! :)
|
|
February 18, 2003 Couple
of additional pics today from the How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days premiere
back on January 27, 2003. These are courtesy of fansites.com.
Thanks very much to Sabrina for the heads-up! :)
||
To all my friends on the East Coast: stay safe, be warm and hang in
there ... Spring is coming! :)
|
|
February 15, 2003 The
wonderful Sabrina has completed screen caps for What Loves Sees.
:) This is film ranks as one of my personal favourites as I think it
one of
Annabeth's more poignant performances. So, if you have not seen it, I
hope you get the chance to. In the meantime, enjoy the caps! :)
||
Have a great rest of the weekend all, and thanks ever so much,
Sabrina! :)
|
|
February 14, 2003 Happy
Valentine's Day all ... :)
I made this collage to
sort of commemorate the day. I really am not all that good with
collages, but I try things out every once in a while. :) (**NOTE:
Brushes used in this collage again come courtesy of Vered at VBrush)
||
It's also President's Day weekend here in the
U.S., which
means Monday is a holiday for some. It is for me ... and if it is for
you as well, be safe and enjoy the long weekend!
:)
|
|
February 13, 2003 Just
a short update today ...
I came across this
picture of Annabeth that I had not seen before. It's actually a signed
pic, and it is also dated (July, 1991). Quite a beautiful shot. :)
||
I also just want to thank those of you who have already submitted
your well wishes for the 2nd Annual Book of Birthday Greetings for
Annabeth. They are just great! Keep them coming! :)
Be sure to see the February 12th update for a little background on
the book, and for details on how to participate. :)
||
Have a great day! :)

February 12, 2003 The
2nd Annual Book of Birthday Greetings for Annabeth...
As some of you may know,
Annabeth's 32nd birthday is a little over a month away. Last year,
AGFan (from the Simply Annabeth Forum) and I thought it would be a
great expression of gratitude and appreciation if we sent her some
well wishes. Hence the Book of Birthday Greetings was born, which
contained greetings from fans around the globe.
||
||
I'd like to continue the tradition this year, and I will again be compiling
a book of b-day greetings and well wishes to send off to Annabeth.
If you would like to participate:
1) Please forward your greeting to me via e-mail at: allthingsannabeth@yahoo.com.
2) In the subject line, please write: "Birthday Greetings
for Annabeth."
3) Deadline for submissions: March 5th
||
Also, if you would like to make a donation to one of Annabeth's
charities in honour of her birthday, that would be a wonderful gesture
as well. Please feel free to let me know if you have donated to a
charity as I will be writing a small introduction letter at the
beginning of the Birthday Greetings Book, and I would love to be able to include a
mention of any charitable donations given in Annabeth's name.
||

February 10, 2003 Some
great goodies today ...
The ever-awesome Grilka
has completed screen caps for A Death in the Family, which you can see
here.
Thank you so much, Grilka! These are great caps! :)
||
unrhue (from the Simply Annabeth Forum) has sent along a screen cap
from Annabeth's December 2001 appearance on The Late, Late Show with
Craig Kilborn. (For those wondering, this was the little promotional pic featured at the
beginning of the program, when the list of guests for that night were
read to the audience). I always thought it a very cute pic -- thanks
so much to unrhue for rounding it up! (**Note: Original pic comes
from CBS.)
||
And finally, Grilka noted that Inkworks is offering a free promotional
X-Files Season 9 trading card featuring Annabeth's Monica Reyes and Robert
Patrick's John Doggett. Visit Inkworks
if you'd like to send in for the free card. The full set will be released on March 26,
2003.
||
Thanks ever so much again to Grilka and unrhue! :)
|
|
February 8, 2003 Some
site news ... :)
I have redone the site
to feature a new scrolling navigation bar, and to remove the frameset
so as to allow the site to look much better on screen resolutions set
higher than 800 x 600.
I am hopeful that you
all can still access all the areas of the site just as you did before
(as the page layouts have not changed). If any of you encounter
difficulties, please do drop
me a note. (Like always, I've tested it ... but ya' never
know.)
||
Have a great weekend! :)
|
|
February 7, 2003 -- Second Update Some
additional DVD news ...
Lucy (also new member at the Simply Annabeth Forum)
has let me know that Race to Space and When He's Not a
Stranger are both available on Region 2 DVD (Europe) at www.play.com.
You can actually search for either Region 1 or Region 2 DVDs by actor
on the site, which is quite nice. Be sure to check it out if you haven't already (as it's a nice alternative to
purchasing from amazon.com).
||
||
Thank you, Lucy! :)
|
|
February 7, 2003 Sacha
(a new member at the Simply Annabeth Forum) has kindly allowed me to
post a bit of her X-Files fan artwork that is Annabeth-character
centric. :) If you are an X-Files fan,
be sure to check out Sacha's additional artwork at xfregards.free.fr.
**NOTE: If you download
these images and use them elsewhere, please be sure to credit/link
Sacha and her site, not ATA. :)
||
||
Thank you again, Sacha! :)
|
|
February 6, 2003 Some
misc. site news ... :)
As you might have
noticed, I've
changed the home page to be a bit more of a splash page for entry to
the site. The rest of the layout remains the same. If any of you have
any trouble, drop
me a note. I've tested it out on several machines, and everything
seems a-O.K. But, you never know. :)
Also, the ever awesome
Grilka is going to work on A Death in the Family screen caps for us.
And the equally awesome Sabrina is putting the finishing touches on
What Love Sees screens caps. So, look for both of those shortly.
||
||
Thanks to Grilka and Sabrina for their wonderful contributions! :)
|
|
February 5, 2003 Some
Annabeth DVD news ...
Some of you may or may
not know that The Last Supper and
Don't Look Back were both
released on Region 1 DVD (USA/Canada) back on January 7th.
(For those wondering,
Annabeth's role in
Don't Look Back is fairly small, but the film
overall is actually quite good. I was able to see it on cable not too
long ago. If any of you are Eric Stoltz,
John Corbett or Billy Bob Thornton fans, it's worth the price of
admission.) :)
Even better news is that Desert Bloom is scheduled to be released
on Region 1 DVD (USA/Canada) March 11, and it is available for pre-order at amazon.com.
||
||
Across the pond, The
Last Supper and Buying the Cow will be available on Region 2 DVD
(Europe) on February 24th.
Race to Space is currently available, but
it is a special order item that takes a bit longer to get. Check
out amazon.co.uk for more
details.
||
Thanks to Grilka and corleyan for the reminders! :)
|
|
February 4, 2003 Some
great new reads today ...
Grilka has transcribed a
couple of older articles on Annabeth: Iowa
Woman (September 1988), and US
Weekly (October 30, 1989). These are two excellent articles that
give some great insight on the beginnings of Annabeth's career (as
well as her persona -- which appears as wonderfully grounded today as
it was back then.)
||
Enjoy! And thanks ever so much, Grilka! :)
|
|
February 3, 2003 Just
wanted to post a little something in remembrance of the Space Shuttle
Columbia ... my thoughts and prayers are with the families:
" ...[G]oing into space was what [they were] born to do .... [They were given] the chance to fulfill [their] destiny." - Original
quote from Dr. Donnie McGuiness (Annabeth Gish) in Race to Space.
In the wake of the shuttle tragedy, I'd really encourage those of you who haven't seen
Race to Space to see it - and not because Annabeth is in it. Rather, it's a wonderful
tribute to the space program overall - capturing it in its infancy, honouring it
through today, and highlighting how the astronauts and scientists have given
so much to us all.
