December 19, 2003 Off
for the holidays ... :)
This is just an
administrative post to say that I will be away for a couple of weeks
to celebrate Christmas and New Year's.
Updates will return the
week of January 5, 2004.
I wish everyone a very
safe, healthy and happy holiday - cheers to all! :)

December 16, 2003 A
new piece of fan artwork ... :)
DSpy (a.k.a. frigginway)
has very kindly
sent along one of her Annabeth-centric collages (below) for posting
here at the site. I find it very unique and different - not your
typical montage of images. Some wonderful blue tones/hues as well. Excellent work,
DSpy! Thank you so much
for sharing it! :)

December 11, 2003 Happy
Birthday ATA ... :)
As surprising as it
seems, ATA is one-year-old today. :) It's hard to believe a year has
passed since I launched this site. It feels as if it were only
yesterday. :) The
site has grown so much in the past 12 months, and it has accomplished
more than I had ever anticipated.
My sincerest thanks to
everyone for continuing to help make this site all that it is. ATA
couldn't succeed without your support!
And, special thanks must
be given to Annabeth, who has been so very gracious and kind in her
support of this site and the fandom. It continues to be a pleasure and
privilege to work with her in support of her endeavors.
Here's to another great
year! :)

December 9, 2003 A double dose of
messages from Annabeth today ... :)
First, a thank you to
all who participated in the Book of Wedding Greetings/Well-Wishes:
----------
"Thank you everyone for the beautiful messages and art you sent to us
for our wedding. Again, it is an honor to receive such warm wishes
from all over the world - quite an amazing thing! We send back to you
in kind all of the support and good faith and happiness that was
contained in the pages of the book and wish everyone the experience of
true love that we have come to know. Happy Holidays." - Annabeth and Wade
||
Second, answers for the questions submitted for the month of
December. Enjoy!
----------
Name: Tess
Question: What do you typically like to do at this time of year to celebrate the holidays? Any family
traditions that you have carried with you on your own, or that you and your family still do?
Annabeth's Answer:
Wade and I just celebrated our first Thanksgiving as a married couple. It was my inauguration into the preparation of
the traditional Thanksgiving Turkey meal. Thank God everything went fabulously! (I'm still learning to cook!)
We find that we are excited to establish our own holiday traditions, but of course that means bringing with us the
particular ones we treasure from our childhood. For me, the day after Thanksgiving is the time to get out the
Johnny Mathis Christmas album/CD and play it repeatedly for instant holiday spirit. It was a staple for my family.
Last year, Wade put up lights around the house as a surprise for me and it made me gleefully happy to see our home so
bright and inviting. They are already up again this year. Somehow they symbolize for me what Christmas is about
- the warmth and joy of house and home. Family and friends gathering to share the brightness within, to give thanks
for the blessings in our lives, and to spread it around to everyone we might possibly meet.

Question: If the tables were turned, and you could ask us (your fans) a question, what would you ask?
Annabeth's Answer:
Being that each fan is an individual and unique, it would be hard to ask just one general question to fit everyone.
The questioning would most certainly be about you guys and not about me or my career ... I would start with wanting to
know who you are, what you do and what your lives are like ... How about this question: What inspires you? I'll
leave it at that and will await your responses.* (*GP's
Note: If you'd like to answer Annabeth's question, "What inspires
you?", you can e-mail your response to me
BEFORE January 12, 2004. Please put in the subject line of your e-mail: "Answer for Annabeth." As
always, submissions will be reviewed before being forwarded on to
Annabeth.)

December 8, 2003 Misc.
update ... :)
The always talented
Kristi (Absolute
Annabeth / No Frickin' Way /
Teso's Art) is now in charge
of the Amie Tyson Fanlisting. Fellow Webmasters will want to update
their links: http://fans.caffeine-sleep.com/amie.
Also, I've been remiss
in reporting that Kristi is currently running a collage contest for
2004 on her
You Know I'm On Your Side site
(which supports the relationship between X-Files characters Brad Follmer and Monica
Reyes). All the details are available on her site. Artists will want
to check it out! :)

December 6, 2003 'Tis
the season with BFB ... :)
For those of you wanting
to include Annabeth in your holiday
gift-giving, you're encouraged to make a donation in her name to the 2004
Buy for Bethie/Futures For Children campaign. And, if your holiday
wish list includes some Annabeth-centric items, you can encourage your friends and/or relatives to make their purchases through any one
of the online BFB affiliate stores. :)
Many thanks to all who
are supporting the campaign this holiday season! :)

December 3, 2003 Different
screen caps, and a WW reminder ... :)
Our good friend Sabrina
has done a wonderful set of screen caps from Different. View
the set here. (It may seem as if Annabeth does quite a bit of crying
in this film, and ... well, she does. :) It is a bit of a tear-jerker, but also
a touching story about family struggling to accept what has
happened in the past, dealing with it in the
present, and looking forward to the future.)
My great thanks to
Sabrina - always the procurer of screen caps for the
hard-to-find Annabeth films! :)

"I spent time with the Special Olympics groups, and in Toronto I spent
two weeks with a woman and her son who was very similar to Hope and her daughter. I hung out with them and went to
their community social dances and really became very touched by them." (Annabeth, on preparing for her role in
Different, Venice Magazine, May 1999)
||
And just a reminder: Annabeth is on The West Wing tonight
(Dec. 3) at 9 p.m. on NBC. Episode is: "Abu el Banat." Set
your VCRs. :)
|| Have a great day! :)

December 1, 2003 Desert
Bloom promo cards ... :)
The always resourceful
Grilka has sent along a collection of 11x14 promotional cards for Desert
Bloom. Quite a rare find. (Thank you, Grilka! :) )
||
"I think I was a little unprepared for the amount of work that went into
Desert Bloom, but I think I handled it well. At times, I was drained both emotionally and physically, but I
don't remember ever saying to myself, 'What am I doing?' Because I know that I
like[ed] it." (Annabeth, Desert Bloom Press Kit, 1986)

Have a great day! :)
