August 28, 2003 Just
a note ... :)
It's coming up on Labor
Day weekend in the U.S./Canada, with Monday (Sept. 1) a holiday for
most. So, I will be away for several days.
Hope everyone has a
great end to this week, a good weekend and a great start to next week!

August 27, 2003 WW
reminder ... :)
The West Wing
re-airs tonight (Wednesday) at 9 p.m. on NBC. Episode is:
"Evidence of Things Not Seen." Matthew Perry (Friends)
is a special guest star.
Some of you might notice
NBC is re-airing the closing eps from last season, so you may want to be sure to tune
into these re-runs over the next couple of weeks as they will lead into the season premiere on Sept. 24th ... which will be
Annabeth's debut. :)

Have a great day! :)

August 23, 2003 Just
a bit more BFB/FFC info ... :)
The very talented
Becky has added a new section to the Buy For Bethie
Web site dedicated to the BFB/Futures for Children
campaign. You can now check this section for updates/progress as to
the monies raised, or for further details on how to contribute.
Fellow Webamasters
wanting to show their support for the campaign can check out the linking
buttons/banners. :)
(Kudos to Becky for all
her hard work!)

August 22, 2003 An
important charity follow-up ... :)
Just want to officially
announce that the charity to
which all 2003-2004 Buy For Bethie
(BFB) proceeds will be donated is Futures for
Children (FFC). Part of the reason for
Annabeth's update to the charity list was to advise which charity she
would like to see the BFB monies donated, and her preference for 2003-2004
is Futures for Children.
Additionally, a goal has
been set to have BFB become a "Sponsor" level donor of Futures
for Children for 2004. In order to qualify, we will need to raise
at least $420 (US) by the end of this year.
So many of you
generously supported the Thank You, Annabeth
(TYA) campaign of 2002-2003, and here's hoping for your continued
support with BFB through the remainder of this year so that another
wonderful charitable donation can be made on Annabeth's behalf, which
in turn will go to support a great organization. And,
for those of you who might have missed out on the first
phases of the TYA campaign, this will offer another great opportunity
to show your support for Annabeth and one of her charities. :)
Remember that you can
make a direct donation to BFB without having to purchase merchandise
through one of the stores. All the monies go to the same
place. :) Also, you can make a donation at any time. The earlier the
sponsorship goal can be met, the better. :) Many, many generous thanks to all of you who have already
contributed to BFB - your support means so much! :)
Be sure to check out the
Futures for Children
Web site for additional information on the organization. You can also
visit Buy
For Bethie to see the current total of monies donated, or to make
a purchase and/or donation.

Have a great day! :)

August 21, 2003 An
update on Annabeth's charities, and a minor West Wing spoiler
... :)
Annabeth has given me an
update as to which charities she officially supports. They are the following:
-----
Children's Hospital of
New Mexico
Futures for Children

Planned Parenthood
Yoga Inside Foundation
-----
You will notice
a change to Planned Parenthood to be inclusive of the organization as
a whole, given her support is not just for the Greater Iowa
chapter.
Also, she is now
supporting a new organization called Futures for
Children, which is based in New Mexico and is dedicated to enriching the lives of Native
American children.

On a slightly different
note, there is another minor WW spoiler concerning Annabeth's character, Liz Bartlet Westin.
:)
Courtesy of eOnline!
("Watch With Kristen"):
-----
"Question: Is Zoey going to be okay on
The West Wing?
Kristen's Answer: Yes, she is. It's going to be the Prez's other daughter, played by Annabeth Gish, that gives him the
trouble this season. They'll get into something of a political battle over her husband, who wants to run for the House
of Representatives - the idea of which the president and his men are not so fond ...."

August 20, 2003 West
Wing reminder ...
WW re-airs tonight
(Wednesday) at 9 p.m. on NBC. Episode is: "Privateers."
(This ep might be of interest to Stockard Channing and Mary-Louise
Parker fans. And actually, I'd recommend any ep that features MLP's
character of Amy - she is quite entertaining ... :) ... as is SC's
Abbey Bartlet.)

Have a great day! :)

August 18, 2003 New
version of screen caps ...
Thorsten (a.k.a. Arkaras)
has re-done the set of screen caps for Annabeth's VH-1 interview for The
Way She Moves. View the new caps here;
the interview is archived here.
The caps are now much sharper and more vivid in color. Many thanks to
Thorsten for sending them along! :) (I must also thank my good friend
Sabrina for having done the original set for me! :) )

"It wasn't easy
because not only do you have to literally unloosen your hips, we also had a
lot of technical steps and routines to learn in a very short amount of
time." (Annabeth, on learning to dance Salsa for The Way She Moves,
VH-1.com interview, August 2001)

August 14, 2003 This
is just an admin note to say I hope some of you have escaped the
issues associated with the "Blaster" Internet worm ... it
has wreaked havoc for many folks this week (myself included). :)
Keep tuning into BRAVO
Network for re-runs of The West Wing. (I'm finding it a
nice combination to be able to view the older episodes on BRAVO in
conjunction with last season's re-runs on NBC ... :) ...)

August 9, 2003 August
Q&As ... :)
Annabeth has sent along her answers for the questions submitted for the
month of August. I've listed them below, and I've also archived them under "Messages from Annabeth". Enjoy! :)
----------
Name: Vickie
Question: You mentioned in a recent article that you love to act in westerns and historical dramas. If you could pick a
particular time period in which to "actually live" or to just visit for a while, when/where would it be and why? Or to
have been apart of a specific event that took place in history, what would it be and why?
Annabeth's Answer: Good question! Man, so many eras and events come to
mind ... does it have to be just one particular historical period? Because I feel drawn to a lot of different times ...
I’ve always had a romantic fascination with medieval times and the women in them. The story and times of Guinevere has
always had a real pull for me. I’ve always wondered what it was like when women were sorceresses, very powerful and
beautiful. To go way back, the time in history covered in the book The Red Tent
also fascinates me - all the way back
to biblical times. What did that time really feel like while you were living it? That is the wonderful thing about
being an actress because every so often an opportunity comes with a role that takes you right back into a recreated
reality and you are transported back in time ... I could spend hours on this question!
----------
Name: AGFan
Question: How has your family, and the way in which you were raised, influenced you emotionally, spiritually and
professionally?
Annabeth's Answer: Let’s see
- this is a deep question. I’m not sure I can
quantify and translate all of the effects of my family upon my personality. There are influences that I am probably not
even conscious of, they are just woven so tightly into my being. But I was raised with good values
- education, love,
discipline, honesty, authenticity, hard work, compassion! I was the youngest of three children, so I learned a lot by
observing my brother and sister as they grew up, and then when I started in the business at 13 my parents had a big job of
carrying all the same values into an industry they knew nothing about. But because I maintained a life in Iowa, a state
synonymous with "good values," and because my parents doggedly insisted I remain grounded, I think I always kept a good
perspective about what was important. Both of my parents, and my brother and sister are very creative, passionate people
and emotionally we all carry those genes. Spiritually I was on my own path from the beginning, my searching and longing
independent from what anyone else in my family was doing, so I’ve taken my own cues there. Everyone would wholeheartedly
agree with that!!! Professionally all the values I mentioned above were automatically applied to the way I try and handle
my business on a daily basis.

August 5, 2003 Site
admin notice, and some additional fan artwork ...
Just want to apologize
to everyone who might have had trouble getting to this site in the last day
or so. Apparently, my Web host migrated this site to a new server
without warning due to a sudden security issue.
Everything should be
working normally once again.
However, if anyone
submitted a "Question for Annabeth" since last Friday
(August 1), you will need to re-submit the question as all form
requests/e-mails were lost in the migration to the new server.
I apologize again for the inconvenience.

I've added a couple of
more collages to the Fan Artwork
section.
I'd really like to thank
all of who have sent in collages. You're all so very talented! :)
Unfortunately, I can't post all of the artwork I receive.
However, if you have a piece you would like to send along, please do as
I definitely enjoy looking at all the collages (especially since I'm not
very good at making them myself. :) ) And you never know ... you might
find it posted. :)

Have a great day! :)

August 2, 2003 Nice
words for Annabeth, and a 1997 retroview ... :)
Below is an article on
some of the changes that are in store for The West Wing this
season, and it includes a nice Annabeth mention. :)
-----
8/1/2003
St. Louis
Post-Dispatch
Changing of guard at 'West Wing'
By Gail Pennington
Like Republicans and Democrats, Fox News boosters and CNN backers, ''West Wing'' fans are deeply divided these days.
In one camp: the Aaron Sorkin stalwarts, certain that the show can't recover from the departure of its troubled-genius
creator. In the other: the John Wells welcome brigade, confident that the hands that shaped ''ER'' can guide the Bartlet
White House to creative (and ratings) recovery.
Count NBC Entertainment president Jeff Zucker solidly in the latter camp.
Zucker, of course, is paid to talk positively. Meeting with TV critics recently in Hollywood, he announced a
''new, award-winning writing team'' for the show this season and touted cast additions including Annabeth Gish as the
eldest daughter of President Jed Bartlet (Martin Sheen) and Steven Eckholdt as her husband.
The new writers, working under Wells (whose company produces the show), include Lawrence O'Donnell, a former
''West Wing'' scribe who created the canceled ''Mister Sterling''; Carol Flint, a veteran of
Wells' ''China Beach'' and
''ER''; Alexa Junge, who wrote for both ''Sex and the City'' and ''Once and Again''; and, somewhat ominously, Peter Noah,
whose credits include the sitcoms ''Yes, Dear,'' ''Anything but Love,'' and (yikes) ''Ladies Man.''
But Wells himself has written the season's first two episodes, and Zucker said that after reading them, ''I don't think
there's a huge change in the show.''
Sorkin, who quit under pressure from NBC and studio Warner Bros. after the series fell out of the Top 20 last year, is
better than anyone at ''the small banter and the small talk,'' Zucker acknowledged.
What Wells brings to the first two scripts ''is some incredible emotional moments [and] some incredible character
development,'' he added. ''Where you may miss a little of the small talk in the hallway, you're going to be quite taken
with how gut-wrenching and emotional it is. That's the hallmark of a John Wells show, and that's what you're going to
get.''
Assuming, of course, that the show comes to some resolution of the demand by some of its stars to be paid more.
Richard Schiff (who plays Toby), Bradley Whitford (Josh), John Spencer (Leo), and Allison Janney (C. J.) have asked for
substantial raises, Variety reported this week.

The ever fabulous Sabrina
has transcribed a 1997 interview with Annabeth, which was featured in
Femme Fatale magazine. She talks about her role in Steel. As always,
it's a great read. :) Check it out here.
(And thanks to my buddy Sabrina for tracking this one down! :) )

"I was with a woman who has lived with paralysis and has overcome it.
She worked with me for two weeks prior to filming. It was an incredibly intense experience.
She became a role model for me." (Annabeth, Femme Fatale, September 1997)

Have a great day! :)

August 1, 2003 The
West Wing season premiere date, and a new Fan Artwork archive ...
Mark the date: Wednesday,
September 24th is the season premiere of The West
Wing (NBC, 9 p.m. PT/ET) in which Annabeth's character,
Elizabeth Bartlet Westin, will make her debut. :) This is going to be
a two-part episode, so be sure to leave room on the video tape to
record both eps! :)

I've created a new
"Fan Artwork" archive in the Photo Gallery/General Pics
section of the site. This is a collection of some of the more Annabeth-centric
collages that have been sent to me since this site was launched, as
well as ones that I liked quite a bit and of which I asked the authors
if I could post.
My thanks to all of the
authors/artists who have done such wonderful work! :)

Have a great day! :)
